Bethel Churches United
Contact: TBA
Bethel Churches United is a group of fifteen local churches in the New Carlisle and Bethel Township community. Its purpose is to lead all people into a closer relationship with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to glorify God in all that we do. Together, the churches of BCU minister to those in need and provide spiritual leadership to the Bethel Township community.
The Food Pantry is located at the FUMC Family Center at 226 South Pike St. The hours of operation are Wednesday 4:00-5:30pm and Friday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm.

Grass Roots Ministries of Miami Valley, Inc., a non-profit charitable organization, is sponsoring our mission in Tanzania. We are currently in the process of building a Church, School and Orphanage in the Gamasara District of Tanzania. We currently have more than 40 orphans that we are sponsoring. Love Tree
Contact: Church Office
As one of our missions during the Christmas season, the congregation has the opportunity to help make Christmas a little brighter for some needy families. Ornaments are placed on the Love Tree giving a name, age and items that the person would like for Christmas. The congregation brings in wrapped gifts to be delivered on Christmas Eve along with food baskets.
N.O.W. (Nurture, Outreach, Witness) Team
Contact: Terri Brickles
The mission team meets every other month or as needed to select a mission of the month to which members of the congregation are asked to donate time and gifts. We support Bethel Churches United's food pantry and Covenant Outreach food pantry in Springfield. We donate household items to Methodist Mountain Mission, Red Bird Mission in Appalachia and a new church in Nuevo Progresso. We help support people in mission in South America and Children in Africa. We include Habitat for Humanity in our circle of giving. We're looking at new ways to be involved with "hands on" work as well as monetary donations.
The mission team also sponsors various fun activities throughout the year to generate funds to support these missions. For example, we have the Annual Auction and Cake Walk and the Chili/Dessert cook-off. There are more exciting activites being planned for the future. Stay tuned to find out what they might be!
Prayer Chain
Contact: Fern Winters or the Church Office
A group of members pass prayers via telephone through the church body. We now have the PhoneTree calling system. There is no need to pass along a call, just receive the prayer request and pray! If you know someone who needs our prayers or want to become a part of this ministry, contact the minister or one of the persons above.
Samaritan Kitchen
Contact: Alberta Ellis
Samaritan Kitchen provides a delicious free meal and fellowship every Tuesday night at 5:00 pm in Asbury Hall. Anyone in the community is invited to join in this fellowship.
Stephen Ministry
Contact: Rev. Jeff Burdsall
Stephen Ministers are well trained lay members of our church who do one-on-one pastoral care. They are not trained as counselors but are trained to walk beside and offer care to those in our church and community who are going through life-changing events. Sometimes their source of stress is for a wonderful reason, like the birth of a baby or a move to our community. Sometimes stress levels are rising because of traumatic events, such as the loss of a loved one, prolonged illness, or divorce. Our Stephen Ministers are trained to be there to help make these life transitions easier by bringing enouragement, care, a good listening ear, and the presence of Jesus Christ.
If life feels out of balance, someone to talk to an hour or so a week might be just what you need. Feel free to call Pastor Jeff and speak to him about being assigned a Stephen Minister. Everything you discuss will be completely confidential. No one will even know you have a Stephen Minister except for you, Pastor Jeff, and your assigned Stephen Minister. No one needs to go through life's difficulties alone. Stephen Ministers are there to help add to the pastoral support of our church.
You may also be interested in becoming a Stephen Minister. If you feel you are being called to this ministry, call Pastor Jeff for more information. You will gain from the training for your own daily life, and may be the person needed to help someone else just when they need you the most.
